Obituary

Alice Faye Beck Parker Kelso, 82, of Ralls, TX passed away Friday, June 24, 2022. She was born in Canyon Valley, TX, near Caprock Gin, on February 14, 1940 to J.P. and Kitty Shoemaker Beck. Alice had two sisters, Charlotte Campbell and Sammie Logsdon.

She was a 1958 graduate of Ralls High School. She was a part of the Rainbow Girls, Young Homemakers of America, and a Girl Scout leader. During her time in Young Homemakers of America she spent many hours helping set up displays at the Ralls Historical Museum.

She married Wayne J. Parker in 1958 and attended a semester at West Texas State University in Canyon where he played football on scholarship. During their time in Canyon, their first daughter, Becky, was born. After college Wayne and Alice returned to Ralls to farm cotton, and set up homestead South of Ralls. Two more children were born, Scarlet and J Rhett Parker. Alice and Wayne were vital to the creation of the 1977 Crosby County History book. After Wayne's death in 1992, Alice continued to farm to support herself and her family. She was a great business woman and farmer.

Alice was an avid collector of antiques and "All God's Children", and she loved restoring old furniture. She also enjoyed canning vegetables, creating food from the farm to the table. She married Tommy Kelso in 2004. He preceded her in death in 2006.

Alice is survived by two daughters, Becky Tidwell and Scarlet Cargile; one son, J Rhett Parker; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, four grandsons and her two sisters.
