Services for Mary Frances Van Meter Taylor, 91, of Crosbyton will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 14, 2010 at the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Wendell Horn and Rev. Robby Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
Mrs. Taylor passed away Saturday February 13, 2010 at the Crosbyton Hospital. She was born June 25, 1918 in Rhome, Texas to the late Earl and Roxana (Morris) Van Meter. On December 23, 1937 she married T. J. Taylor in McAdoo. He preceded her in death September 25, 1997. T. J. and Frances moved to Crosbyton in 1956 from McAdoo where they had lived since 1938.
Frances was a member of the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church, the Order of the Easter Star and the Canasta Club. She was an avid supporter of the youth of McAdoo and Crosbyton. She was a case worker for the Texas Department of Public Welfare and had served as the administrator of the Crosbyton Nursing Home for eleven years.
Frances is preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Hardy who passed away August 18, 2007, and a brother Earl Van Meter, Jr. who passed away August 27, 1991.
Survivors include two daughters, Frances Ann Koch of Crosbyton, Elaine Williams and husband Harold of Kalgary, like a daughter, Judy Higginbotham and like sons, Bub Eldredge and Junior Long and a sister-in-law, Doris Van Meter of McAdoo.. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Lesleigh Overstreet (Marty Pena), Sam Moore (Sonia), Brett Koch (Donna), Todd Ratheal and Earl Bell, seven great grandchildren; Lauren Fry (Aaron), Jordan Overstreet, Tracie Alcala (Josh), Erin Moore, Michala Moore, Aaron Koch and Darbie Williams and three great great grandchildren; Ethan, Courtney and Owen Alcala.
